Moon Struck Now Available On Demand

As eagle-eyed Candy Crush players may already know, King Games has just unveiled a brand new booster for Candy Crush Saga, making this week an exciting one for those of us who love to play in Odus's Dreamworld.

In addition to two new episodes for the Dreamworld--Cookie Cabana and Dizzy Dessert--players will now be able to trigger the powerful Moonstruck effect on command with Moonstruck boosters during Dreamworld levels. These boosters will be available in packs of 3, 6, and 9 after players unlock their first 3 free boosters.

Anyone who has played in the Dreamworld should know the dramatic effects a Moonstruck effect can have on any level. The event is usually triggered by filling Odus's Moon Scale with candies that do not tip it from side to side. When activated, the Moonstruck will remove one color from the board, much in the manner of a Color Bomb. If the level has six colors of candies, then two colors will be removed, making it even more potent than a regular Color Bomb. More important, however, is the Moonstruck's effect on Odus the owl. While the bothersome fowl is notorious for ruining many levels by falling off the scale and ending the level prematurely. When Moonstruck is active, though, Odus flies away from the board and the scale cannot be tipped over, freeing players to make moves without fear of any consequences.

There are clearly many great ways this new booster can be used strategically, but the most obvious immediate use is to trigger a second Moon Struck immediately after a prior, natural Moon Struck is over. This will effectively reduce any board to 3 colors and provide the most possible consecutive turns without interference from Odus. You can also use this when Odus is almost falling off the moon to get yourself out of trouble. By the same token, it's bad strategy to use these boosters when the scale is almost full, since at that point a natural Moon Struck is easy to achieve. These boosters are incredibly expensive, so use your 3 free starters wisely!
