The meringue in this level is actually doing you a favor, since it's keeping the chocolate from spreading into the main part of the board. Try to keep from totally destroying any meringue squares for as long as possible--after you let the chocolate move into the middle, it'll be tough to get it out.

Attack the chocolate on each side
The chocolate you really need to watch out for, though, is on the sides. These columns are the only places where ingredients will fall, so they must be kept clear. Look for any and all opportunities to make vertical matches in these columns, since you will hasten the fall of ingredients and potentially remove chocolate that has formed there.

Form horizontally striped candies
The most effective way to clear chocolate from the left and right columns is to form horizontally striped candies. These will not destroy the fountains, of course, but you can still keep the chocolate at bay. Vertically striped candies are, surprisingly, totally useless, since you won't be able to move them underneath an ingredient. Ignore rows of 4 and focus on columns instead.
