Chocolate is one of the trickiest blockers in Candy Crush — it spreads every turn you don't destroy it. Here's how to keep it under control.
How Chocolate Works
- Spreads every turn — if you don't destroy at least one chocolate piece, it expands into an adjacent square
- Destroyed by adjacent matches — match candies next to chocolate to break it
- Can cover special candies — chocolate can trap wrapped and striped candies underneath
- Spawns from chocolate fountains — some levels have fountains that continuously produce new chocolate
Essential Chocolate Strategies
1. Containment First
Your #1 priority is making at least one match touching chocolate every single turn. If you skip even one turn, it spreads — and two turns of spreading can be game-ending.
2. Striped Candies Are Your Best Weapon
A striped candy pointed at a row of chocolate clears the entire line in one move. Horizontal striped candies near chocolate rows are extremely valuable.
3. Deal With Fountains Early
If the level has chocolate fountains (spawners), prioritize clearing the area around them. You can't destroy the fountain itself, but keeping the area clear prevents runaway spreading.
4. Color Bomb + Striped = Chocolate Destroyer
This combo turns all candies of one color into striped candies, then fires them all. On a chocolate-heavy board, this often clears 50%+ of all chocolate in one move.
